Actor Hansika Motwani and her mother, Jyoti Motwani, have submitted a petition to the Bombay High Court seeking to cancel an FIR registered by TV actor Muskan Nancy James. The FIR, filed under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, alleges charges of cruelty, domestic violence, causing hurt, and criminal intimidation. A court notice was issued by Justices Sarang Kotwal and SM Modak, with a hearing scheduled for July 3.
The complaint, initiated by Muskan Nancy James—who married Prashant Motwani, Hansika’s brother, in 2020—accuses Prashant, Hansika, and Jyoti of mistreatment. Reports indicate that the marital relationship between Muskan and Prashant deteriorated, leading to their separation in 2022.
In the petition, Hansika Motwani asserts that the FIR was lodged out of malice following her demand for the repayment of Rs 27 lakh, which she had provided to Muskan and Prashant for wedding expenses. According to the petition, the loan amount was disbursed to wedding planners, yet the repayment has not been made. Hansika maintains that the complaint is a retaliatory tactic intended to exert financial pressure amid the ongoing matrimonial dispute.
Earlier in February, both Hansika and Jyoti were granted anticipatory bail by the Mumbai Sessions Court. The current petition argues that the FIR is an exaggerated legal action meant to coerce a financial settlement in connection with the divorce proceedings between Prashant and Muskan.
