Shankar’s much-anticipated Telugu debut, Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, Anjali, and SJ Suryah, hit theatres on January 10, aligning with Sankranthi celebrations. Despite the festive season buzz, the film saw a slight dip in collections on its second day.

Box Office Update at 9 PM

As per Sacnilk reports, Game Changer collected ₹17.92 crore net in India on Saturday, January 11, bringing its total collection to ₹68.92 crore. While the numbers remain solid, the film is trailing behind Shankar’s earlier Tamil hit Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan, which garnered ₹25.6 crore on its opening day and achieved a lifetime collection of ₹81.32 crore net in India.

Occupancy Rates

On its first Saturday, the Telugu version of Game Changer recorded morning show occupancy at 20.66%, which improved to 31.52% for the afternoon and 36.09% for evening shows. These numbers surpass the occupancy percentages for the Tamil and Hindi versions but fall short of expectations given the festive weekend.

Competition Looms During Sankranthi

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Ram Charan’s performance as dual characters—IAS officer Ram Nandan and activist Appanna—has been widely appreciated. However, portions of the film have been critiqued as outdated. High expectations surrounded the release, but stiff competition from other Sankranthi films may impact its performance.

Upcoming releases include:

Daaku Maharaaj (January 12): Featuring Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, and Shraddha Srinath.

Sankranthiki Vasthunam (January 14): Led by Venkatesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary.

Pushpa 2: The Rule (January 17): Allu Arjun’s much-awaited sequel will add 20 minutes of new footage.

About the Film

Directed by Shankar, Game Changer showcases Ram Charan in dual roles as a principled IAS officer and a fiery activist. Kiara Advani plays Deepika, his love interest, while Anjali portrays Parvathy. SJ Suryah delivers a gripping performance as the antagonist, Mopidevi, a corrupt politician. The film also stars Srikanth, Samuthirakani, Brahmanandam, and Vennela Kishore in pivotal roles.

As the Sankranthi season unfolds, the coming days will determine whether Game Changer can maintain its momentum against the upcoming heavyweights.
