After an impressive theatrical run, Chhaava, the epic historical drama starring Vicky Kaushal, is gearing up for its much-awaited digital premiere. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film has captivated audiences with its gripping narrative and powerful performances. Here’s everything you need to know about its OTT release.

When and Where to Watch Chhaava Online?

Mark your calendars! Chhaava is set to stream on Netflix from April 11, 2025. The film will be available in Hindi and Telugu, with subtitles in multiple languages, ensuring a wider reach for its compelling story.

A Tale of Bravery and Resistance

Chhaava brings to life the extraordinary journey of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the fearless son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who led the Maratha Empire against the Mughal onslaught. Following his father’s passing, Sambhaji defies all odds, using guerrilla warfare tactics to resist Emperor Aurangzeb’s forces.

Despite facing betrayals and hardships, Sambhaji remains resolute. Eventually captured and subjected to brutal torture, he refuses to surrender, choosing martyrdom over submission. His sacrifice ignites the continued fight for Swaraj, as his wife Yesubai ensures the Maratha legacy by crowning Rajaram as the next leader.

Box Office Triumph

Released in theaters on February 14, 2025, Chhaava turned into a blockbuster, amassing a whopping ₹715 crore worldwide. While its theatrical run is winding down, the film’s Netflix release is expected to introduce it to an even larger audience.

Critical Acclaim

The film has received largely positive reviews, with The Times of India rating it 3.5/5 stars. Critics praised Vicky Kaushal’s electrifying performance, particularly in the film’s emotionally charged climax. However, some felt that the narrative leaned heavily on A.R. Rahman’s music rather than fully embracing its storytelling potential.
