Amaran OTT Release Date Postponed: Tamil Blockbuster's Massive Success Delays Netflix Streaming

The Tamil film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has become one of the year's biggest hits, earning an impressive ₹263 crore worldwide. Due to its strong performance in theaters, the film's release on Netflix has been delayed.

Initially scheduled to premiere on Netflix 28 days after its theatrical debut, the movie's OTT release has now been pushed back by a week. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran has generated significant excitement, with fans continuing to fill theaters.

The film's success is evident from its earnings, with a 14-day net collection of ₹168.70 crore across languages. Tamil audiences contributed ₹135.85 crore, while the Telugu market added ₹29.35 crore. As of November 13, the film had collected ₹4.25 crore in a single day, according to Sacnilk. Amaran has earned ₹73.75 crore from international markets and ₹189.25 crore domestically, making for a total of ₹263 crore globally.

Industry expert Sreedhar Pillai highlighted the importance of this decision on X (formerly Twitter), noting it as a first for a Tamil film, with Netflix postponing the OTT release due to overwhelming demand at the box office. The film is now set to premiere on Netflix on December 5.
