Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule Surpasses $2 Million in Overseas Pre-Sales on Opening Day
Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, is creating waves ahead of its release on December 5, 2024. Reports indicate that the film has already exceeded the $2 million mark in overseas pre-sales for its opening day, with projections suggesting that it could easily surpass $3 million as the release date approaches.
The film has been hailed a 'mega blockbuster' by various trade analysts, who anticipate that Pushpa 2 will break numerous box office records. Notably, earlier this year, the rights for digital and satellite distribution for the movie were sold for a record amount, highlighting the immense hype surrounding its release.
According to Sacnilk, the overseas pre-sales figures are particularly impressive. In North America alone, the opening day pre-sales have exceeded $1.8 million, with a significant portion—$1.6 million—accounted for by the premiere. Furthermore, the total advance booking gross for all days in North America has surpassed $2 million, marking it as the fastest pre-sales for an Indian film, with an entire week still remaining until its debut.
The film's overseas success extends beyond the US. In the UK, Pushpa 2 has garnered over $230,000 in advance sales, while Gulf markets have contributed around $80,000. Additionally, Australia and other markets account for approximately $215,000 in advance bookings. Altogether, the total overseas pre-sales are estimated to be around $2.3 million (approximately ₹19.50 crores) for the first day.
Trade analysts are forecasting an impressive ₹50 crore opening for Pushpa 2, making it the highest opening for any film starring Allu Arjun. North America alone is expected to contribute around $3 million to the opening day takings, positioning it among the most successful openings for an Indian movie in history.
In terms of certification, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has mandated three minor changes to the film's dialogues and specific scene modifications. After suggesting the muting of three expletives, the CBFC has granted Pushpa 2 a U/A certificate, allowing it to proceed with its scheduled release. The excitement for the film continues to grow as audiences await the highly-anticipated sequel.
