All We Imagine as Light' nominated for Golden Globe: Payal Kapadia makes history
Director Payal Kapadia's film, "All We Imagine as Light," has been nominated for two prestigious awards at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. The film has earned nominations for Best Motion Picture (Non-English Language) and Best Director, making Kapadia the first Indian filmmaker to achieve a nomination for Best Director at the Golden Globes. This recognition follows the film's success at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, where it received the Grand Prix Award.
Kapadia expressed her gratitude, stating, "I am very honored by this nomination. I thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). It’s a celebration of all the people who worked with so much love and hard work on the film. 'All We Imagine as Light' is still in theaters in India, please go watch it and support us."
Chhaya Kadam, who appears in the film, also praised Kapadia's achievement. Speaking to ETimes, she said, "I am very happy with the nomination, but even more happy for Payal. I think she is the first Indian director to be nominated for a Golden Globe. Her hard work of so many years is yielding good results. Also, this is not just for Payal, but a victory for Indian cinema and a proud moment for Indians." Kadam also starred in "Missing Ladies," India's nomination for the Oscars.
Other Films Nominated
In addition to "All We Imagine as Light," the Best Motion Picture (Non-English Language) category includes films such as "Emilia Perez," "The Girl with the Needle," "I’m Still Hair," "The Seed of the Sacred Fig," and "Vermiglow."
