Alencier Ley Lopez criticizes Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth's acting style

Actor Alencier Ley Lopez, who played a small role in the Tamil film Vettaiyan, recently shared his thoughts on working with legendary stars Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. During a media interaction while promoting his Malayalam film Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal, Alencier made bold remarks about their acting style, calling it overly "stylised" and claiming that neither truly knows how to act.

Alencier’s Experience on the Set of Vettaiyan

Alencier revealed that he was invited to Mumbai for a one-day shoot for Vettaiyan, where he played a judge in a courtroom scene featuring Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. He did not receive any payment for his role but was provided with a flight ticket and accommodation in a five-star hotel.

“I was curious to see how they perform in front of the camera,” he said. “During the scene, Rajini sir delivered his signature stylised acting, using body language before walking out. Then Amitabh sir roared like a lion. My job was to act shocked.”

Criticism of Their Acting

Alencier compared their performances to the exaggerated action sequences he saw during his youth, such as Rajinikanth stopping helicopter blades with his teeth in films. He admitted that he personally prefers more naturalistic performances, like those found in films by directors such as Dileesh Pothan and Rajeev Ravi.

“At that moment, I realized I couldn’t compete with them because I don’t do stylised acting or have a deep baritone. That’s when I thought—neither of them actually know how to act,” he stated, adding, “This will be big news for you tomorrow.”
