The Indian Army will commence the application process for Agniveer recruitment in March, with a written examination scheduled for April, according to Colonel Shailesh Kumar, Director of the Army Recruitment Office, Varanasi. The recruitment process will allow candidates to apply for two positions simultaneously, a significant change from previous years.
The recruitment drive will invite applications for four posts under the Agniveer scheme. These include Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Office Assistant or Storekeeper Technical, and Tradesman (for candidates with an eighth or tenth-grade pass).
Candidates who have completed their 12th grade with an ITI certification or Mathematics will have increased opportunities in technical trades. The Army encourages applicants to explore multiple positions to reduce the high competition for the Agniveer General Duty role.
Applicants from several districts, including Varanasi, Chandauli, Mau, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Bhadohi, Azamgarh, Ballia, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, and Deoria, will be eligible to participate in the recruitment process under the Varanasi Army Recruitment Office.
Colonel Kumar highlighted that candidates often fail in general subjects during the medical examination. He advised applicants to ensure they meet all required criteria before appearing for the selection process.
The recruitment drive will also provide job opportunities for candidates with backgrounds in hotel management, including positions such as chefs, waiters, and housekeeping staff. Additionally, applications will be accepted for trades such as barbering.
Candidates who had applied in past recruitment drives but have changed their email or mobile numbers must visit the Army Recruitment Office in Varanasi to update their contact details.
For the first time, candidates will have the option to apply for two posts within the same recruitment cycle. A trial run was conducted at the Army Recruitment Office, where dummy applications were processed to identify and rectify potential issues before implementation. Adjustments have been made based on feedback from the trial.
The Indian Army has urged eligible candidates to review the latest recruitment guidelines and apply within the given timeline to avoid last-minute complications.
