Over 50 students from a private coaching centre in Khed tehsil of Pune district were hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning, according to police reports on Monday.

The Pune food poisoning incident occurred on Sunday night. Fortunately, the students' condition was stable, and they were discharged after receiving initial check-ups and treatment, as mentioned by a senior police officer.

This coaching centre provides coaching for exams like the Joint Entrance Exam for engineering and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for medical courses. "After dinner last night, some students started feeling unwell, indicating signs of food poisoning. As a result, they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," said Rajkumar Kendre, Senior Police Inspector at Khed Police Station in Pune.

"With some basic check-ups and treatment, the students were released from the hospital," he added.

An investigation has been launched by the police to determine the cause of the food poisoning. Food samples have been collected and sent to a laboratory for testing, Kendre further explained. Food poisoning outbreaks at educational institutions have prompted authorities to take swift action, investigating and testing food samples to ensure student safety.

The incident has raised concerns among students and their families as they await the results of the investigation to understand what caused the unfortunate event.
