Hyderabad: CII Telangana organized the CII Telangana Edusummit 2023 with the theme Fostering Innovation & Entrepreneurship through Industry Collaborations at Hyderabad, today.
Prof TG Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE inaugurated the Summit. In his Inaugural address, he commended Telangana for its strides in the education sector. Highlighting India's position as the world's third-largest education system, he emphasized its potential for global leadership. Referring to the success of 100 unicorns with valuations reaching $500 billion in global markets, he showcased them as evidence of this potential. He also shared government initiatives aimed at bolstering education, particularly in rural and tribal areas. Sitharam emphasized the imperative of universal student skilling and the ongoing need for upskilling and reskilling the existing workforce to align with technological advancements.
Ms Karuna Vakati, IAS., Secretary, Dept. of Education, Government of Telangana shared that Government of Telangana announced the implementation of an industry-centric curriculum in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) across 25 degree and 25 engineering colleges. This initiative aims to benefit 10,000 students this year and is projected to extend to 20,000 students next year. Additionally, she highlighted the inclusion of computer science as a subject in Mechanical Engineering and Polytechnic courses to enhance student learning. The department is actively engaging with 15 foreign universities to establish MoUs for dual degree programs and teacher training collaborations.
Prof R Limbadri, Chairman, Telangana State Council of Higher Education highlighted Telangana's education system's remarkable GRF of 39.1 in contrast to India's 27.3. He emphasized the department's efforts to cultivate students into knowledge and skill-oriented individuals.
During his welcome address, Mr C Shekar Reddy, Chairman, CII Telangana and CMD, CSR Estates Ltd, highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration between academia and industry. He stressed that this collaboration is instrumental in driving innovation, addressing crucial challenges, and creating value for all stakeholders, encompassing academic institutions, industries, and society as a whole.
