Hyderabad: Prof Hari Chandra Verma, a Padma Sri awardee and an expert in physics, underlined the need for having 'spirit and confidence' in doing physics experiments and falling in love with physics.

Delivering an enlightening address at the two-day APOGEE 2021, the annual technical festival BITS Pilani, a pioneering engineering institute of excellence, Prof H C Verma, who is popular for his 'Concept of Physics' book series, shared his experience from an average student to becoming a Padma Shri awardee.

Recalling his school days, he said that he failed in some subjects but later developed interest in studies with the encouragement from his parents. The life at Patna Science College has brought changes in him and he developed interest in physics.

He talked about circumstances that lead to writing the 'Concept of Physics' book and how it helped the Indian students in learning physics in an easy way.

"Today, there is a new education system and the central government has unveiled a new education policy which will change the way of studying and we need to wait and watch whether the new changes in the system will eliminate the rat race in getting marks," he said.

Talking about physics experiments and solving the problems, Prof Verma said that to master physics, there is a need to do a thorough practice of problems and then keep on doing the experiments until the solutions are found.
