Hyderabad In an attempt to draw attention towards nature and mounting environmental concerns, Azim Premji University is holding a festival, 'Rivers of Life - A journey through India's Rivers.' Based on the theme of conservation of rivers, the fest will be held at the University's Bengaluru campus from November 2 – 16.

The fest will feature a photo exhibition and will see participation from folk singers, conservationists, academicians, and storytellers who will be sharing their experiences around diverse river landscapes.

"We believe this event would provide an opportunity for students and the public to understand our relationship with rivers and the urgent need to protect them from further degradation," said Harini Nagendra, Director, Research Centre, Azim Premji University.

The fest will feature folktale performances by Bhatiyali singers from the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, lilting music of Baul artists, a film festival centered on life by the river-side, and river-based fun activities. Also, experts and academics will hold multiple interactive workshops for students and teachers on topics ranging from conservation and river ecosystems to community engagement.
