Visakhapatnam: RATTLED by severe resource crunch mainly caused by the prolonged spell of the pandemic, Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to speed up its efforts to monetise government assets under 'Mission Build AP.'
Due to legal hurdles, the mission could not be initiated after notification of several parcels of land in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. NBCC (formerly National Building Construction Corporation), a navratna company under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, is the consultant for the government. After lull for sometime, NBCC engaged Rudrabhishek Enterprises Limited (REPL) for preparing a comprehensive architectural and engineering consultancy for monetisation of a prime land in Vijayawada sometime ago. The government has plans to rebuild the State Guest House located in an area of 3.26 acres by creating one lakh square feet of built-up area and a commercial complex with 2.5 lakh sft within next two years.
In another development, AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) issued an e-procurement notice on September 7 inviting bids for architectural and design consultancy services for the redevelopment of the resort at Rushikonda in Visakhapatnam for buildings and associated works for an estimated value of Rs 72 crore. Visakhapatnam is proposed to be made the executive capital. Now the famed sea-facing cottages built in two phases at Rushikonda Harita Resorts managed by APTDC are being demolished for redevelopment and construction of new cottages and other facilities at a total investment of Rs 240 crore. "We are very happy that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also announced a nationwide monetisation initiative for redevelopment of government assets including those belonging to the public sector enterprises," a senior State Government official told Bizz Buzz.
Earlier, the government decision for e-auction of 18 parcels of land at APIIC Harbour Park, Agnampudi and other areas in Visakhapatnam was stayed by the AP High Court. NBCC had also notified e-auction seeking bids for the controversial 13.59 acres of land belonging to APIIC at Harbour Park by fixing a reserve price of Rs 1,452 crore.
