Mumbai, Sep 11 MLC Satyajit Tambe took to social media and posted a video on the sorry state of traffic in Pune.Tambe urged the Traffic Control Department to pay attention to the matter and solve the problem of traffic congestion at the earliest. "Many IT companies have left Pune city in the last few years, courtesy of long traffic snarls. Yet, the traffic situation remains the same. Passengers get confused about how and where to go due to large winding roads in NDA i.e. Chandni Chowk. Importantly, even pedestrians had to suffer a lot while travelling. However, the situation only seems to have been worsened," said Tambe.

The National Highway Authority has spent 397 crores and has constructed 17 kilometers of road including 8 ramps, 2 service roads, 2 underpasses, and 4 bridges. "There are guiding signboards at some places on these roads, but those boards are not visible in some places. This leads to drivers not understanding the road and not seeing where the signs are being put up. If one takes a wrong turn, they would have to take a detour of two kilometers," Tambe said.

Although new roads have been constructed, pedestrians problems remain the same and the fear of accidents among them has also increased due to many roads converging from all directions. "It is not just a traffic problem, it is also the mental agony and anxiety of the people that should be considered. New roads being laid out at exorbitant expenses do not seem to provide any concrete solutions. Looking at all this, it is safe to conclude that adding planning to city development should be of utmost priority," Tambe stated.
