Visakhapatnam: IN-HOUSE designed and fabricated solar tree of 3.3KWp capacity comprising 10 leaves each having 330Wp solar PV panels, was launched by Diwakar Kaushik, Group General Manager of NTPC Simhadri on Ugadi.

Solar tree fabricated at Simhadri is unique in design and erected at the main entrance gate of the plant symbolising NTPC Simhadri's commitment to green power.

It generates an average of 2 tNTPC Solar tree

symbolic of green powero 2.5 KWp of power with more than 10 units of energy every day. It is an artificially fabricated structure replicating spiralling phyllotaxy-the distribution of branches and leaves in a natural tree, such that the solar photo voltaic panels mounted on the branches/leaves receive maximum insolation and harness maximum amount of solar energy during all seasons with minimum foot print area. The complete design, fabrication, erection and commissioning was done in-house by Team Simhadri in a short duration of 45 days.

The Simhadri solar tree can produce sufficient clean and green power during normal sunny days and the generated power is used to cater to visitor pass section and main gate control room near plant main gate at Deepanjalinagar near here.

NTPC Simhadri recently commissioned the first phase 25 MW floating solar power plant. The project has been awarded to BHEL on EPC basis. This is the largest floating solar power plant being set up at a cost of Rs 104 crore.

NTPC Simhadri officials exuded confidence that it will be fully operational by June-end.
