Hyderabad: Lately, the US tech giant Microsoft has been in the news for more than one reason. Besides, its position on OpenAI, and a threat to Outlook users from a Russian hackers group, Microsoft had to also face copyright lawsuit owing to Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this regard, Microsoft affirmed that it will honour the Intellectual Property of creators to abstain from copyright infringement over material generated by AI software that Microsoft offers to businesses.
Microsoft India Development Centre on Tuesday celebrated 25 years of presence in Hyderabad with its employees across its Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Noida campuses. Currently, Microsoft entities in India have over 20,000 employees, engaged in sales and marketing, research, development, customer support, and industry solutions across 10 Indian cities.
Speaking on the sideline of 25 years of IDC in Hyderabad, Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director, Microsoft IDC, said: “We came out with a whitepaper when our legal head addressed it broadly. He basically said that we absolutely honour the Intellectual Property. The government and the companies have to evolve our relationship where we honour their IP and we make sure that they are okay with the usage and we do not want to violate that all. We have put forward few suggestions for the framework for every country to adopt so that we respect the work of creators.”
He further said that Microsoft is committed to producing AI in a responsible way so that people can build solutions without worrying about the challenges. Another Microsoft official informed that the forward looking innovation is consent layered into the technology stack, in other words, she said that the user who is producing a data will have the consent travel with it, which means giving use of this data for a specific purpose for a limited time. Currently, Microsoft India is working with Tata to create a chatbot ‘Maharaja’ for Air India, powered-by Gen AI.
