Credai vizag gifts 1 lakh to Olympics-bound Jyothi

Visakhapatnam: Credai Visakhapatnam Chapter has presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Kumari Yarraji Jyothi, who will represent India in the 2024 Olympics being held in Paris, as an appreciation of her achievements at the national games.

Kumari Jyothi, a native of Visakhapatnam, bagged the gold medal in 100 meter hurdles event at the International/National Games. Presenting the cheque at its regular meeting here, Chairman KSRK Raju (Sai), president Dharmender Varada and honorary secretary V Sreenu described her as “jewel in the crown” who has brought pride and glory to the city of destiny.

Thanking the chapter for its gesture, Kumari Jyothi recalled the difficulties she faced which included finding a track to practice and the discouragement from her parents. It is her passion for the game that helped her achieve the gold medal, she said. Kumari Jyothi will represent the nation at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
