VSEZ exports soar 30% to Rs 1.4Lakh crore in April-Sept

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ) has recorded exports to the tune of Rs 1,04,278 crore during April-September of 2023 recording an increase of 30 per cent over corresponding last year. According to Development Commissioner of VSEZ Srinivas Muppaala, of this, services exports were Rs 76,413 crore and merchandise exports were Rs 28,315 crore. Services exports grew by 34 per cent while merchandise exports increased by 21 per cent over the previous year first half. He said on Wednesday that VSEZ has attracted investment of Rs 1,04,961 crore and generated employment of 6,61,579 people as on June 30, 2023.

He started that during the second quarter (July-September, 2023)11 new SEZ unit proposals and two EoU proposals were granted approval for setting up of units in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. These units will make an investment of Rs 167 crore and provide employment to 4,048 people.

In AP five new SEZ unit proposals were granted approvals viz. Akshara Metals for manufacture of gold jewellery and polishing of diamonds, Gaia Crew for trading of biodegradable cutlery, Lee Health Domain for manufacture of neutraceuticals, Salgo Minerals for Heavy minerals, Tanmayee Logistics for warehousing and auxiliary services.
