Hyderabad Olectra Greentech Limited has delivered the last batch of 12 electric buses to the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation (APSRTC). This delivery marks a significant milestone for Olectra, as it has fulfilled the contract with the APSRTC to supply fleet of 100 e-buses.
In a ceremony held at the APSRTC depot in RRN Colony, Madanapalle, the 12 fully air-conditioned, 9-metre e-buses were flagged off by APSRTC Chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy on Monday. The e-buses are equipped with regeneration technology and can travel a distance of 200 km on a single charge.
These e-buses will glide down the route between Madanapalle and the holy town of Tirupati, covering an impressive distance of 124 km daily. With a focus on efficiency and reliability, the newly delivered 12 e-buses will embark on cumulative 40 daily trips, covering a cumulative distance of 4,960 km.
The first bus starts at 5 am from Madanapalle and the last one is scheduled for 11 pm, concluding the trip in Tirupati. Enhancing connectivity and accessibility for residents and visitors, this is the third intercity route, while the two other successful intercity routes cover Kadapa-Tirupathi and Nellore-Tirupathi stretches.
Presently, 88 Olectra e-buses are in service. Together, these e-buses have covered a distance of 1.4 crore km, substantially saving 34 lakh litres of diesel and an impressive reduction of 9,100 tonnes of carbon emissions, fulfilling Olectra’s commitment to preserving the environment through sustainable transportation.
