LLMs can accelerate drug discovery process

Hyderabad: On the day three of a workshop on “Artificial Intelligence for Pharma and Biotech,” an expert’s session on Large Language Models (LLMs) underlined its impact on medicine and drug discovery. The event is organised by Federation of Asian Biotech Associations in partnership with Science Gurus, University of Hyderabad and World Trade Center Shamshabad. The ongoing workshop will end on December 16, 2023.
The day started with a session led by Dr Sanatan Upmanyu, Executive Director and Head of Data Sciences, InveniAI. The spotlight was on “Large Language Models (LLMs) for Drug Discovery,” and their transformative role in revolutionizing drug discovery. Dr Upmanyu underlined the impact of LLMs in text processing, offering unprecedented capabilities in both general and specialised domains. He informed that LLMs in Drug Discovery are not just tools; they are catalysts for transformation.
The second session led by speaker Dr Mohan Raj Goyal, Senior Director, Anywhere Inc, shed light on “AI for making AI-ready Data,” the transformative role of AI in crafting AI-ready data, ushering in the next era of technological evolution. He highlighted the shift from contemplating what AI can do to us, to envisioning what AI is for us. AI is now seen as playing roles analogous to doctors, teachers, and other crucial team members in the daily lives. He concluded by saying that the collaboration between AI and data readiness is poised to shape the next era of technological evolution.
