IAI celebrates Actuaries Day today, to felicitate COVID Warriors

Mumbai, Aug 21 Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) is organising Actuaries Day, today.
IAI is a statutory body established under The Actuaries Act 2006 (35 of 2006) for regulation of profession of Actuaries in India. Actuaries are experts in the field of financial modelling, risk analysis, statistics, investments, information technology & data science and business.
The Actuaries Day is celebrated on 21st August each year to commemorate the birth anniversary of LS Vaidyanathan, the first Indian Actuary who contributed immensely to development of actuarial science.
IAI is planning to have grand celebration on the day. The main function has been tentatively fixed from 5.00 to 8.00 pm. Amit Agrawal, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India will attend the event as Chief Guest and deliver Keynote Address. Nagendra D Rao, President, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India will be joining as a special Invitee.
The organization is likely to felicitate 'frontline COVID Warrior' on the occasion in recognition of contribution and valuable selfless services made by them during Covid time.
"Outbreak of the pandemic, along with the technological revolution is disrupting the business model and enhancing the importance of the actuarial scales. We are seeing unprecedented innovations in our existing areas of practice and opportunity in the new domains.
Actuarial Day is the day for us to take stock of our current and future members," says Subhendu Bal, President, Institute of Actuaries of India.
According to Bal, "We have got an opportunity to create a compelling future. We will talk about our plans and opportunity in the great details on the day."
