Thousands of fitness freaks, young enthusiasts including young men and women to over 70-year-old persons took part in full marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k runs

Hyderabad On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, The Hans India publication organised ‘The Hans Hyderabad Marathon’ in Hyderabad on Sunday morning. Bizz Buzz and HMTV were the partners for this event themed on ‘Creating Hope Through Run’.
The marathon was aimed at creating awareness on the mental health importance and awareness about the urgent need for bringing people together to share hope and promote preventive measures to reduce the number of suicides and suicidal tendencies.
Thousands of fitness freaks, young enthusiasts including young men and women to over 70-year-old persons took part in the events such as 42 km full marathon, 21.1 km half marathon, 10k run and 5k run. The events saw active participation from the people from different walks of life where there was a nine-year-old boy to 70 years old elders in the elite category.
The students from Methodist Engineering College, participants from different parts of the State including Siddipet, Husnabad, Khammam, Sangareddy and also from various States in North India participated in the run. A class-VI student Dhruv was also seen in the event. Coming along with his parents, Dhruv participated in the 5-km and completed it.
The Marathon started at 5.30 am even as the participants were lined up at the start line with white t-shirts and registration numbers on their chests in the wee hours on Sunday. The marathon was flagged off by The Hans India MD K Hanumanta Rao.
The Marathon passed through Raj Bhavan Road, Minerva Coffee Shop, Panjagutta Flyover, LV Prasad Marg, Jubilee checkpost, Cable Bridge, Inorbit Mall, IKEA – Bio Diversity -Cyberabad Police Commissionerate Gachibowli Police Station – ISB Junction- Gachibowli Stadium Main Gate, U-turn at University of Hyderabad small gate and finished Inside the Gachibowli stadium practice ground.
The police had barricaded one side of the road imposing restrictions on vehicular traffic for the marathon. The 10k and 5k runs were taken up in the Gachibowli premises which saw a large number of youth. It may be mentioned here that during the year 2019, The Hans India had organised the half-marathon. The runners were provided water bottles, fruits and ointments along the Marathon route.
