Hyderabad In a bid to combine festivities with utility in the form of preserving the environment, East-West Seed India has come up with a plantable seed rakhi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Under a special campaign titled 'Beej Bandhan,' these unique rakhis have been designed with seeds of Butternut (Cucurbita moschata) - another exciting crop category launched this year by East-West Seed India.
Butternut has a sweet, nutty taste similar to a pumpkin and a tan-yellow skin with orange fleshy pulp. It offers a good source of fiber, vitamin C & A, magnesium, and potassium.
The concept of Beej Bandhan - seed rakhis is to bring the benefits of urban gardening to people of all ages. Rakhi is symbolic of affection between siblings, and a seed rakhi presents an eco-friendly option of planting it in your garden or a pot. Watching it grow will leave patrons with an unforgettable memory. Aligning with the concept, attractive packaging materials used in the seed rakhis are eco-friendly.
"Our associate who helped make this concept a reality is an NGO that trains rural women in making these rakhis. We have distributed these as gifts to all our partners," said Sanja Gahilot, Director, Marketing of East-West Seed India.
