A senior executive at a private company in Bengaluru was found dead at his Marathahalli residence, with police revealing that his wife and her family had allegedly demanded ₹3 crore to settle false charges they filed against him.
According to police, the victim’s brother stated that the wife’s family—comprising her mother, brother, and uncle—had filed several false cases against the deceased and demanded the money to resolve the matter.
“The victim’s brother informed authorities that his wife’s relatives had filed multiple cases as part of a divorce dispute and asked for ₹3 crore to settle them,” ANI quoted a police statement.
The deceased’s brother also shared that the family was unaware of the pressure the victim was facing. “If he had confided in me or our father, we could have helped him. I urge the government to deliver justice for my brother, or provide proof if he was in the wrong,” he said.
In a tragic twist, the victim’s father mentioned that his son had been repeatedly forced to travel to Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh due to the ongoing marital disputes. "She kept framing new charges against him. He must have been extremely frustrated but never let us know. We were shocked when we received the news. Just before the incident, he sent an email to our younger son at 1 am,” he said, confirming that the allegations in his son’s death note were “100% true.”
The police received a suicide complaint at 6 am on December 9. They found the victim’s residence locked from the inside, and locals, after breaking the door, discovered his lifeless body.
A 24-page suicide note, allegedly written by the deceased, accused his wife and her family of harassment. The note was also emailed to close contacts and shared in a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was involved with. Additionally, a placard reading “Justice is due” was found hanging at the residence.
The victim, employed at a private firm in Bengaluru, was reportedly involved in a bitter divorce case, with his wife also facing charges in Uttar Pradesh. Police have initiated further investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
A case under Section 108 3(5) of BNS has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
