Zomato’s Big Move: Parent company renamed to eternal

Zomato’s shareholders have given the green light to rename the parent company to Eternal Ltd, a month after CEO Deepinder Goyal announced the change.
What’s Changing?
While the listed holding company is rebranding to Eternal (pending final approvals from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs), Zomato will continue as the food delivery brand. Eternal will now oversee multiple businesses under its umbrella, including:
Blinkit – Quick commerce
District – Going-out platform
Hyperpure – B2B grocery supply
Why the Change?
The move has been in the works since 2022, when Zomato acquired Blinkit (formerly Grofers) and internally rebranded its parent entity. This shift mirrors the strategy of tech giants like Google (now Alphabet) and Facebook (now Meta Platforms), signaling a broader business vision beyond food delivery.
Deepinder Goyal’s Take:
“We wanted to rename the company publicly when something beyond Zomato became a major part of our future. With Blinkit’s growth, we’re at that point now,” Goyal told shareholders in February.
Who’s Leading Eternal?
Deepinder Goyal – CEO, Eternal
Rakesh Ranjan – CEO, Zomato (food delivery)
Albinder Dhindsa – CEO, Blinkit
Rishi Arora – CEO, Hyperpure
Rahul Ganjoo – Head, District
In a recent interview, Goyal outlined key priorities for each business unit under Eternal, aiming to expand beyond food delivery and scale operations across multiple sectors.
