Tata Memorial Hospital's Director, Dr. CS Pramesh, has offered advice to Nithin Kamath, the CEO of Zerodha, following his recent experience with a mild stroke: "Avoid taking advice from arbitrary influencers."

Dr. Pramesh took to social media after an entrepreneur and social media influencer provided medical advice to Kamath, which was contradicted by several medical professionals.

In response to the influencer's recommendation, Dr. Pramesh cautioned against the dangers of relying on social media for medical guidance, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based science. He stated, "A thread that illustrates the potential dangers of social media... Please refrain from following random 'influencers' lacking scientific credibility beyond anecdotal claims."

He further emphasized, "There is no substantial scientific evidence supporting this. Beware of influencers lacking a scientific background."

Another medical expert, senior cardiologist Dr. Deepak Krishnamurthy from Bengaluru, dismissed the influencer's suggestions. He emphasized the necessity of achieving a work-life balance to mitigate the risk of strokes, highlighting the importance of relaxation, leisure time, and adequate sleep.

Dr. Krishnamurthy's remarks were prompted by Kamath's disclosure of suffering a mild stroke approximately six weeks ago, attributing potential causes to grief, inadequate sleep, fatigue, dehydration, and excessive physical exertion.

Kamath, who is currently in recovery and anticipates a six-month healing period, shared his doctor's recommendation to prioritize relaxation and recognize when it's necessary to ease off on work commitments.
