Hyderabad: In a significant gathering at BioAsia 2024, industry leaders, CEOs, and scientific minds convened to discuss the advancement of science and healthcare. D. Sridhar Babu, minister for IT and Industries, delivered a keynote address emphasizing Telangana's progress in the sector.
Babu highlighted the state's recent achievements, including a substantial investment of Rs. 40,232 crore in the life sciences sector. This investment, he mentioned, reflects investor confidence in the governance and vision of the new government.
During the event, Babu mentioned that he had inaugurated global R&D centers for Bristol-Myers Squibb and Providence. Both centers have aggressive growth plans, aligning with Telangana's commitment to advancing the sector he said.
Speaking about the state's new dynamic life sciences policy, Babu emphasized its aim to position Telangana as a global hub for the industry. This policy, he explained, will integrate technology, life sciences, pharma, policy, and regulatory agencies, setting Telangana apart in its approach.
Looking to the future, Babu discussed plans to establish a skilled university in Hyderabad. This initiative is to produce top-tier talent in just two years, complemented by mandatory internship programs for students. These programs will expose students to industry needs across various sectors, further enhancing Hyderabad's position as India's skilled capital.
