River, the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup, has launched its first retail store in Hyderabad. The new outlet, located in Kukatpally, spans 1,000 sq. ft. and showcases River’s flagship product, the Indie electric scooter, along with accessories and merchandise. This store marks River's first presence in the state, in collaboration with Sri Rajarajeshwara EV Mobility.
Pricing and Availability
The River Indie e-scooter is priced at Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad). After its launch in Bengaluru in 2023, the price was revised in January 2024, increasing by Rs 13,000. Pre-booked e-scooters have already started to be delivered on the inaugural day.
Expansion Plans
Aravind Mani, Co-Founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion: “After the success of our flagship store in Bengaluru, we’re excited to launch in Hyderabad. The demand for electric scooters is high in Telangana, and the initial pre-orders from Hyderabad are a testament to that. Our goal is to establish the River Indie as a distinctive vehicle in the region, offering both style and convenience. Looking ahead, we plan to expand to over 100 cities in the next two years, prioritizing an exceptional customer experience.”
Features and Specifications
The Indie electric scooter boasts a range of advanced features including a 6-inch high-contrast color display, two USB ports, and a low-speed reverse parking assist. It offers three ride modes: Eco, Ride, and Rush.
Powered by a 6.7 kW mid-mounted motor, the Indie can reach a top speed of 90 kmph and accelerate from 0-40 kmph in under 4 seconds. Its fixed lithium-ion battery pack has a 4 kWh capacity, delivering a real-world range of up to 120 km in Eco mode. The Indie was also awarded the ‘Scooter of the Year’ title at the 2024 car&bike Awards.
River’s entry into Hyderabad is a significant step in their expansion plan, with aims to reach over 100 cities within the next two years, providing customers with an exceptional experience and sustainable transportation options.
