The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a unique identification number for subscribers of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in India. Similar to a PAN for taxpayers, the UAN helps manage multiple Provident Fund (PF) accounts under a single ID, making it easier for individuals who switch jobs frequently to maintain their EPF details in one place.

Why is the UAN Important?

Centralized Access: The UAN allows employees to access all their EPF details from various employers through one account.

Efficient Management: It facilitates easy management of EPF contributions, withdrawals, and transfers between different employers.

Online Services: Through the UAN, subscribers can apply for withdrawals, check application statuses, and view their account details online on the EPFO website.
