Germany's water technology firm SKion secures majority stake in Hyderabad based Sanpure Systems Pvt Ltd

Germany's water technology firm SKion Water, a subsidiary of SKion GmbH founded by German entrepreneur Susanne Klatten, has secured a majority stake in Sanpure Systems Pvt Ltd, based in Hyderabad, India. Sanpure Systems provides high-purity water systems to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies. The acquisition deal is estimated to be valued at around $9-10 million and marks SKion Water's entry into the high-purity water and process equipment business. SKion Water has acquired a 51% stake in the Hyderabad-based firm, with the remaining stake held by Sanpure founder Basavaraj Nekar.

Sanpure Systems Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2012 by Basavaraj Nekar, specializes in providing custom-engineered solutions for pharmaceutical high-purity water systems. Following the acquisition, Sanpure will integrate with SKion Water, and the German water technology group plans to leverage the combination of Sanpure and another SKion group company, Paques, to establish a presence in the Indian market.

Sanpure boasts an in-house electropolishing facility and automated polishing machines capable of delivering a high surface finish quickly and uniformly, making it one of the few companies in India with this capability. With over 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space, Sanpure is well-equipped to provide highly customized process equipment and systems for the development and manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products, including vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, recombinant DNA proteins, blood fractionation, and more. Sanpure serves industries such as pharmaceuticals, bio-pharmaceuticals, APIs, food and beverages, and semiconductors.

SKion Water, established in 2011 by Sussane Klatten, is an international platform specializing in water and wastewater technology solutions. It offers reliable and efficient water and wastewater treatment solutions for municipal utilities, industrial and commercial water users, and focuses on the development and implementation of innovative water technologies.

In April of this year, EnviroWater Group, a part of SKion Water, acquired 100% of the shares of Schweitzer-Chemie GmbH, a German company that provides cooling water systems, steam boiler systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems, drinking water installations, and other water-carrying systems.
