Hyderabad: In a significant development for sustainable business practices in India's logistics sector, DHL Express India and Aragen LifeSciences have entered into a strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to utilize DHL's innovative GoGreen Plus service, a pioneering initiative in the reduction of carbon emissions associated with international shipments.

DHL Express, a global leader in international express services, and Aragen LifeSciences, a prominent provider of contract research, development, and manufacturing services for the life sciences industry, jointly announced this partnership. This collaboration marks a milestone as Aragen becomes the first customer in India under the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to join hands with DHL Express to reduce carbon emissions.

Speaking about the partnership, R.S Subramanian, Senior Vice President – South Asia, DHL Express, expressed satisfaction, stating, "We are delighted to partner with Aragen LifeSciences, signaling a significant step towards sustainable business practices in India. Aragen's commitment to reducing carbon emissions aligns with our mission to address Scope 3 emissions effectively. Through our GoGreen Plus service, we aim to support customers like Aragen in their journey towards sustainability. This collaboration sets a precedent for others to adopt eco-friendly practices and embrace low-emission transport solutions using sustainable aviation fuel."

Echoing this sentiment, Manni Kantipudi, CEO of Aragen Life Sciences, emphasized the company's dedication to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Kantipudi stated, "Sustainability and ESG are central to Aragen's priorities, and our collaboration with DHL Express underscores this commitment. By leveraging the GoGreen Plus service, we aim to achieve our near-term targets under the SBTi by 2032. This initiative reflects our shared vision with DHL to manage carbon emissions responsibly while engaging in international shipping activities."

Under the agreement, Aragen will utilize the GoGreen Plus service across its major overseas trade routes, including those to America and Europe. The GoGreen Plus service, which recently launched in India, leverages sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to help customers reduce Scope 3 emissions associated with their freight. This sustainable fuel is sourced from key suppliers such as bp, Neste, and World Energy, who produce SAF from alternative raw materials with a sustainable energy profile.

Unlike traditional offsetting initiatives, GoGreen Plus focuses on emissions reduction within the logistics sector itself, a concept known as insetting. This approach allows emissions reductions to be utilized for DHL customers' voluntary emission reporting, aligning with the principles of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Through this innovative partnership, DHL Express and Aragen LifeSciences are setting new benchmarks for sustainable practices in the logistics industry, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and carbon reduction.
