Alok Sharma as Chief Executive Officer is evolving and driving the strategic direction to build Shycocan Corporation as a global oragnisation and building a strong management team to drive its execution. In an exclusive interview to Bizz Buzz, he talks about his revolutionary viral defence system. The device, built in 2018, even before the pandemic, was developed after a decade of research by an Indian scientist and inventor, Dr Rajah Vijay Kumar. Shycocan covers an area of up to 1,000 square feet of uninterrupted enclosed spaces, and one could simply use more devices for larger areas

Tell us more about Shycocan Corporation and your revolutionary viral defence system that can disable the entire family of coronavirus with up to 99.9 per cent efficacy indoors?

Shycocan Corporation is a company formed at the cusp of healthcare and technology. The global licensee of the Shycocan device, the first in the line of viral defence systems that can disable the entire family of the coronavirus with up to 99.9 per cent efficacy in enclosed spaces. It does this using a breakthrough technology that uses no chemicals, UV rays, ionisers or radiation which makes it completely safe for humans, animals, and the environment. Invented after a decade of research, the device was launched to combat the bird flu as far back as 2018 and when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the virus being from the same family, it was tested extensively across multiple labs globally and found to be equally effective against the transmission of the coronavirus - both air and surface borne.

How important is your product in the Covid containment programme?

It's a critical, essential for containing the coronavirus. As we have all seen, vaccines are essential and not sufficient, given that in several cases booster shots are essential, children, pregnant women aren't eligible yet for the vaccine and it will take sizeable time for the entire global population to be vaccinated. There is a need for vaccines plus technology to work together to protect humanity, lives and livelihoods.

Can you narrate some of the practical uses of the product and how cost effective it is to your target audience?

The Shycocan is a simple plug and play device and can be used to protect effective safety from the entire family of both air and surface borne coronavirus. It works to disable virus in its current form and also against all its variants, mutations so will likely protect us also from potential third waves/future pandemics. It will find great utility in both homes and offices/workspaces including factories, restaurants, schools, colleges, spas, gyms, theatres, cinemas, lounges, hotels, hostels, museums, hospitals, clinics, airports and more. Any enclosed spaces where there is a congregation of people and hence risk of transmission is the highest.

It has no consumables; filters and a shelf life of over five years. It consumes just as much electricity as a 40-watt light-bulb month on month thus making it a low to no maintenance device. For life saving technology that costs less than a typical high-end smartphone, it's the smartest investment one can make to safeguard lives and livelihoods.

How do you plan to communicate your product virtues in India?

The best way to communicate the benefits of the product is to experience it, see it in action. So, we plan to do the same through content, editorials, case studies, demonstrations, showcase rather than trying hard to sell the same.

What are your manufacturing capacities and how best can you cope with the expected demand?

We have a state-of-the-art manufacturing set up in India which can scale up very rapidly based on the demand generated as it supplies centrally for all global markets to ensure quality control and suitable checks are in place. In fact, even the packaging carton used for the product is anti-viral and eco-friendly.

Do you see a flood of offers for your viral defence system and from what kind of target audience?

It's early days, but the device is being exported to over 20 countries already as it is CE Class I device and already conforms to the regulatory requirements of the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, South Africa, Botswana, India and many other countries. It has seen over 20,000 installations across leading organizations from a range of industries, including the likes of the Tatas, Birlas, Tech Mahindra, the Indian Armed Forces, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Muthoot Finance, Murugappa Group, ABB, DeBeers, Polycab, Vijaya Group of Hospitals, Kirloskar's, MRF, Yokohama tyres, RBI, several government offices and more.

Is there a similar system worldwide and what is your export strategy?

We are a proud made in India, made for the world product. But we have partners, and teams across multiple locations including but not limited to the UAE, South East Asia and the United States with rapid expansion plans. We are already being exported to over 20 countries and we hope to scale very fast to protect the entire world from this deadly pandemic.

How long will it take to ship the product across the country?

This can be done very rapidly depending on the scale/ volume/ payment terms of the order from anywhere between 24 hours to one week.

Can this viral defence system be used in transportation systems?

Not yet, but there are multiple variants of this technology in very advanced stages of development to cover smaller/ larger/ and also mobile areas that include vehicles. Watch out for some more announcements from us soon.

How bullish are you about this system and do you plan a complementary system which will be cure for the virus?

We are very bullish about this technology and its efficacy given the number of tests it has gone through and the multiple testimonials, case studies of people who have used and benefitted from it. But the device is not a medical device. It's a preventive device and cannot cure the coronavirus. However, anyone coming into contact with a previously infected surface/person in the coverage of the device will be safe from transmission. Now that's as powerful as it gets to bring life back to normal.
