ShortJobs was founded by Umang Mathur in July 2020. It's an on-demand platform launched by Eye Media Networks for flexible work opportunities with a vision to fill in the gaps between people who have lost their jobs in this pandemic and companies looking to fill the contract-based/ temporary jobs. It addresses an ever-growing need for Indian companies to adapt to the ways of the evolving workforce due to the pandemic.
This also gives relief to the troubled citizens to find a new source of income to survive the tough situation. The portal has been curated in a comprehensive way that abides by the needs of the professionals as per their preferred location and specific field. It acts as a bridge between the employer and jobseeker and makes the interactive journey hassle-free.
The companies/ employers extending jobs will be trusted SMEs / MSMEs with relevant employment requirements and a comfortable working environment. It is a subscription-based model that starts from as low as Rs 300 and goes up to Rs 2,500.
The information/data of the jobseekers will be completely safe and protected by ShortJobs. ShortJobs' main aim is to stimulate flexible work opportunities for people who can make a decision based on their interests and time availability and have an organised working culture in India, Mathur tells Bizz Buzz
What according to you was the number of jobs lost during the pandemic? Could you give a sector-wise breakup?
The current pandemic will eventually end but initially it led to the economic slowdown. However, with people returning to work, the job market is picking up gradually.
The world is passing through unprecedented times and thrown challenges to both employers and employees, where the employer is looking for passionate individuals more than ever before – experienced / freshers for part time / short-time expertise jobs (which can eventually result into long-term too) and employee is looking for temporary assignments (maybe based on his / her passion beyond the main-stream work area).
According to our research and analysis, the pandemic has led to approximately 6.5 million people losing their jobs. The sectors that have faced huge job loss because of the pandemic are majorly the IT sector, sales and marketing, travel and tourism.
How can ShortJobs fill the gap and which are the major sectors do you cater to?
ShortJobs is aiming to make the recruitment process more transparent between the employer and the candidate and provide the right opportunities to the right candidate and the employer with the right skill set. The main challenge many of the companies face is in responding more promptly and clearly to employees' queries.
This is when ShortJobs steps in and tries to communicate and respond to the queries of the candidates and help them have a pleasant experience with the interviewer to get the perfect job. The major sectors that we cater to are IT, digital marketing, the designing and hospitality sectors.
What are your growth plans for the company?
We plan to grow and create awareness about us in the market. We have come up with various services to cater to the needs of the employers and the employees in all the segments like resume-making and personalised recruitment on commission base.
We aim to create a platform of the employer and employees so that registered employees can have a dialogue with employers to look for jobs at the earliest the employees currently are in dying need of recruitment so our therefore plan is to focus on local recruitment and placement.
Is the franchise route part of your business model and how important is it to your plans?
In the current scenario we don't plan to lend our franchise, but yes, we are open for investors and in future we are open for franchise.
