In Kanpur, a contractor named Surendra Singh Chauhan and his sons, Rajat Singh and Gunner Akhand Pratap Singh, have been accused of killing a monkey with an air gun. An eyewitness, Anjani Mishra, confronted them on January 22 over the incident and was allegedly assaulted by the contractor's son and accomplices.

Mishra reported the incident to the police, claiming that the authorities did not take immediate action. The police reached Mishra's house on January 24 after a clash in the matter. Mishra stated that on January 22, he confronted the contractor about the killing, and in response, the contractor and his sons abused and attacked him. Mishra further alleged that the police did not take action even when the contractor's son was present at his house.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ashutosh Kumar, three individuals, including the contractor and his sons, killed the monkey. The monkey's body was later removed for a postmortem examination, and further action will be taken based on the postmortem report.
