Windows users worldwide are experiencing the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), causing their systems to suddenly shut down or restart.

The issue has been traced to a recent CrowdStrike update. CrowdStrike engineering have identified the problem and reverted the changes.

This bug has disrupted operations in many companies, banks, and government offices globally, affecting essential services.

Here’s the BSOD fix guide

For immediate fixes, CrowdStrike suggests:

1. Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment (press F8 or Shift + F8 to enter Safe Mode).

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike.

3. Locate and delete the file matching "C-00000291*.sys".

4. Restart your computer normally.

Microsoft also provided the following tips:

1. If you have recently added new hardware, shut down your PC, remove the hardware, and try restarting.

2. If you're having trouble restarting, start your PC in Safe Mode.

3. Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date by checking for the latest updates (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update).

4. If the issue persists, restore Windows to an earlier point in time before the error occurred (Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection > System Restore).

5. If none of these steps help, try the Blue Screen Troubleshooter in the Get Help app:

Open Get Help in Windows.

Type "Troubleshoot BSOD error" in the Get Help app.

Use the step-by-step instructions in the Get Help app.
