Google Chrome’s new "listen to this page" feature for Android: Now available in Hindi and Bengali

Google Chrome has rolled out a new feature for Android users called "Listen to this page," enabling users to have web pages read aloud in various languages, including Hindi and Bengali. This new addition, available in Google Chrome version 125, offers a variety of customization options for a personalized listening experience.

Feature Overview

The "Listen to this page" feature can be found in the three-dot menu of the Chrome Android app, situated just below the "Translate" option. By selecting this option, users can initiate playback in a format similar to a podcast. This allows them to control playback with options to play, pause, rewind, fast forward, and skip 10 seconds, as well as change the playback speed and choose from different voices.

Voice Customization

Currently, there are four voices to choose from:

Ruby: A mid-pitch, warm voice.

River: A mid-pitch, bright voice.

Field: A low-pitch, bright voice.

Moss: A low-pitch, peaceful voice.

The feature supports multiple languages including Hindi, Bengali, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, in addition to English.

Availability and Compatibility

It's important to note that the "Listen to this page" option is not available on all websites. The option will only appear in the menu if the page is supported for playback.

How to Use the "Listen to This Page" Feature

Update Google Chrome: Ensure your Google Chrome app is updated to the latest version.

Open a Web Page: Navigate to any web page you want to listen to.

Access the Menu: Click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner.

Select "Listen to This Page": Tap on the "Listen to this page" option.

Customize Playback: Choose your preferred playback speed and voice.

This new feature integrates directly within Google Chrome, providing a seamless experience compared to using Google Assistant, which previously required users to leave the Chrome app and offered limited customization options.
