US President Biden congratulates Narendra Modi on 2024 electoral victory

US President Joe Biden and Secretary Antony Blinken extend congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his electoral victory in the 2024 Parliamentary elections, underscoring the deepening of US-India partnership.

US President Joe Biden extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent electoral victory in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.

He expressed his administration's commitment to strengthening the partnership between the United States and India.

Biden personally reached out to Modi via phone call while on his visit to France, emphasising their shared goals of promoting prosperity, addressing climate change, and ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

“Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory, and the nearly 650 million voters in this historic election. The friendship between our nations is only growing as we unlock a shared future of unlimited potential,” read a post on Joe Biden’s X account.

Also, Secretary Antony Blinken took to the X platform to wish Modi.

“Congratulations to @narendramodi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha general elections. The U.S. looks forward to advancing our partnership with the Indian government and commends the estimated 650 million voters who exercised their right to vote,” he wrote on X.

The US State Department also echoed Biden's sentiments, releasing a statement applauding Modi and the NDA coalition. It released a press statement which reads: “The United States congratulates Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha general elections. With approximately 650 million voters casting their ballots over the past six weeks, these elections represent the largest exercise in democracy in human history. We commend Indian voters, poll workers, civil society, and journalists for their commitment and vital contributions to India’s democratic processes and institutions.

We look forward to continuing to further our partnership with the Indian government to promote prosperity and innovation, address the climate crisis, and ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific region.”

Earlier, Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, also congratulated Narendra Modi.
