Visakhapatnam: The NDA Government in Andhra Pradesh will seek public opinion on how to make use of the palatial buildings built by the erstwhile Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Rushikonda Beach here for his camp office, newly appointed State president of TDP and Gajuwaka MLA-elect Palla Srinivasa Rao said on Tuesday.

During his maiden interaction with the media after he was named as head of State unit of TDP, he said though the estimated expenditure was more than Rs 500 crore. Jagan wanted to convert it into the Chief Minister’s Office presuming that he would be re-elected to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital. The building was built with utmost secrecy. Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Sunday broke the secrecy and visited the mansion along with media.

Palla said the seven super-structures developed with a well-landscaped garden and three see-facing residential complexes with rich interiors and four other buildings for holding conferences and meetings were fit for conversion into State Guest House as maintenance will be difficult. Though the constructions were carried out in the face of severe opposition on behalf of AP Tourism Development Corporation by demolishing old tourism resorts, he said he had his own doubts on its suitability to use for hospitality sector.
