N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies, on Sunday said that there was no truth in the allegations levelled by opposition parties that he took money from rice millers while selling paddy.

“BJP and BRS are levelling baseless allegations. I didn’t meet millers till now. Further, we are very strict while dealing with millers when compared with previous regime,” Reddy told the media here.

He alleged that Nirmal MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy bought floor leader’s post by paying money to BJP leaders in New Delhi.

“Maheshwar Reddy is talking without the knowledge of Civil Supplies Department. I will not tolerate if opposition parties level allegations against a person of clean image like me,” he remarked.

Reddy refuted allegations that Congress government bought fine rice at higher prices. “We did not buy any fine rice till now. Our government will immediately buy if anyone offers fine rice at Rs 42 per kg,” he pointed out.

According to him, Congress government in Telangana took a revolutionary decision to buy wet paddy. “Previous BRS government did not buy wet paddy. We are buying it. Moreover, we are paying Rs 2,400 per quintal of fine variety of paddy. The price was just Rs 1,700 when BRS was in power,” he said.

He assured that government would initiate action if any officer committed mistake.

Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu also dismissed allegations by opposition in paddy sale. “Opposition is propagating lies. We will never do mistakes committed by BRS government. We bring in positive change in the State,” he said.
