Call for sensitisation on importance of IP

 Visakhapatnam: Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL) Director Dr Y Srinivasa Rao has emphasised that students and faculty should understand the importance of IP and learn the art of filing intellectual property rights (IPR) as these are the key for technological and economic progress of the nation and in achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He was the chief guest at the World Intellectual Property Day celebrations organised by DPIIT-IPR Chair, Centre for Intellectual Property Rights of Andhra University here.

An outstanding scientist of DRDO, Rao gave many examples of successful inventors and stated how Dr Albert Einstein, the greatest scientist of all time, also worked in the American Patent Office as a patent examiner. He explained how this experience helped him to come out with many great inventions subsequently.

The theme of this year’s World IP Day was women and IP. About 300 students, research scholars and faculty attended the event.
