Won’t Touch Ordinary People’s Houses, Hydra Commissioner Assures Residents Near Lakes

Hyderabad: Hydra Commissioner Ranganath on Sunday clarified that the houses of ordinary people, who have set up their residences in the encroached areas of the FTL and buffer zone of rivers and tanks were not being demolished by them. He said only new structures, which encroached upon the FTL and buffer zones were being demolished by them and added that it would demolish the existing under-construction structures as well.

“The structures that were demolished on Sunday at Madhapur Sunnam tank and Mallampet tank in Dundigal are currently under construction. Despite all the warnings, construction is being carried out in the FTL and buffer zones without any permission,” he said. He revealed that the compound walls, some rooms and sheds were demolished by them as they encroached upon the FTL and buffer zones in Aminpur. “These structures belong to YSRCP leader and former Panyam MLA Katasani Ram Bhupal Reddy. Some of the sheds and hotels constructed in the Sunnam tank were demolished as they were being used commercially,” he said.

Commenting on the seven villas demolished in Mallampet tank of Dundigal, he made it clear that they were all under construction structures. “These buildings are being constructed within the FTL limits without any permissions,” he said. He also said Builder of the illegal structures Vijayalakshmi, who is locally known as Lady Don, and local politicians are associated with the construction of these buildings.

Criminal cases were registered against builder Vijayalakshmi and former MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy after several complaints were lodged at local police stations by their victims. Some people are constructing and renting out the illegal structures built within FTL and buffer zones and cases are being filed against such people,” he said. Ranganath said the common people need not worry and requested them to not to buy a house, flat and land built in the FTL and buffer zone by encroaching on ponds and canals.

“If anybody has any doubts regarding the purchase of properties within the FTL and buffer zone, they are advised to visit the HMDA website.” The Hydra Commissioner said while noting that they can contact them and find out the full details.
