Tributes Paid to Chakali Ilamma on Her Birth Anniversary

Hyderabad: Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar paid tributes to Telangana armed struggle leader Chakali Ilamma here on Thursday on the occasion of her birth anniversary.

Both leaders garlanded to the portrait of Chakali Ilamma on the premises of Assembly and recalled her struggle for the welfare of people.

Speaking at the event, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy lauded Chakali llamma as a valiant woman who bravely fought against the oppressive rule of the Nizam.

He highlighted her spirit of struggle as a source of inspiration for today’s youth and said it was a matter of pride to have named the women's college in Koti after Chakali Ilamma in recognition of her sacrifice.

Gutha expressed his happiness over the government officially commemorating Ilamma's birth anniversary.

The event was attended by Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah, MLCs Kodanda Ram, Baswaraju Saraiah, Dayanand, Legislature Secretary Dr Narasimha Charyulu and other dignitaries.
