TG govt to Launch Skilling Programme in BFSI Related Topics for Students Today

To train engineering and non-engineering students seeking job in the BFSI sector

Hyderabad: Telangana government is all set to launch a skilling programme on Wednesday to train engineering and non-engineering students for roles in the Banking Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI) sector.

To meet the demand for IT and ITeS professionals in BFSI sector, the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) has entered into an agreement with the Banking Financial Services and Insurance Consortium (BFSI). Industry-specific knowledge will be integrated into the Undergraduate programme to equipping students with industry relevant skills.

With the launch of this new initiative, students will get placed immediately after completion of graduation, which will bring down unemployment rate in the State. So far the government has raised around Rs 2.5 crore for the new initiative. IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu is monitoring the implementation of the skilling initiatives, an official release from the Chief Minister’s office said.

The highlights of the initiative, backed by CSR partners, includes inception batch of 2024-25 will be provided teaching and training with no cost to the student or government. With TGCHE, BFSI, Government and Higher Education Institutions as the key players, 20 non-engineering and 18 engineering colleges (mostly autonomous) identified by the TGCHE Committee will be considered for the pilot roll-out.

The coursework will be implemented for 10,000 students (5,000 Engineering and 5,000 non-engineering), on pilot basis, supported initially by CSR partner EQUIPPP. For non-engineering colleges, the BFSI curriculum will be introduced as Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) Generic Electives (GE). For engineering colleges, it will be offered as Minor Degree Programme and Accelerated Course. The curriculum, that is embedded in the UG programme and delivered in hybrid mode, has been provided by BFSI and approved by concerned Boards of Studies.

Moreover, key speakers will be provided for the benefit of students. On completion of the course, digital certificates will be given, followed by internship to the eligible.

The State government had earlier announced setting up of Telangana Young India Skill University. For which, the courses will be rolled out from next month. The Chief Minister had also announced that the government will be providing Rs 100 crore for the Skill University. Apart from giving training, A Revanth Reddy had called for participation of private entities in other skill initiatives.
