Police Slap Notice on Vijay Chandrahasan Deverakanda for Defamation

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Unit has registered a case under Section 66 C and D of the IT Act and under Section 351(2) of BNS based on a complaint from Siva Balaji, a movie artiste and Treasurer of the Movie Artists Association (MAA) from Hyderabad.

Dy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Unit, Hyderabad City said during the investigation, Inspector K Madhulatha and her team made efforts to apprehend the accused Vijay Chandrahasan Deverakanda and served him a notice. The accused Vijay Chandrahasan Deverakanda has been continuously targeting, trolling, harassing, and defaming actor Vishnu Manchu and his movie production house. He has been spreading hate and derogatory statements against Vishnu Manchu on his YouTube channel and other social media platforms, using false and fictitious subject matters to intentionally derogate Manchu's name and fame, as well as that of the MAA.

The accused's intentions appear to be increasing his channel views and achieving other unknown goals. The false and fictitious videos uploaded by the accused contain foul language and derogatory statements against actors, actresses, and others associated with the film industry, particularly targeting the MAA and Vishnu Manchu. The victim has provided details of the accused's YouTube channels, video URLs, and other social media handles. The victim urged the police to take necessary action against the accused Vijay Chandrahasan Deverakanda.

Police said social media trolling or cyber bullying was causing mental agony and stress. The deliberate act of posting provocative, offensive or disruptive content on social media platforms with the intent to incite anger was confusion and controversy. The derogatory comments are not only affecting their reputation, but also impacting their personal and professional life. Online harassment is a serious offence and prompt action can help prevent further harm.
