Complete Irrigation Work on a Priority Basis, Telangana CM Revanth Tells Officials

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to prioritise the completion of irrigation projects across the state.

During a review of pending project progress, he instructed irrigation authorities to finish construction within six months to enable the establishment of new ayacut areas. The Chief Minister emphasised the need to accelerate work on projects slated for completion within the next two years and called for the irrigation department to develop a comprehensive action plan with deadlines to meet ongoing targets effectively.

The Chief Minister stated that completing the projects, currently 75 per cent finished, will expand irrigation facilities to additional areas by the next Kharif season. He instructed the Finance Department to ensure the smooth disbursement of funds for key projects in the Godavari and Krishna basins. Finance officials have been directed to expedite bill payments through a green channel for projects aimed at enhancing irrigation facilities across a larger ayacut region in a timely manner.

The officials have been advised to clear the hurdles for the completion of the work regularly. On the problems being faced in clearing the pending bills pertaining to the irrigation projects to the Energy department, the Chief Minister asked the officials to hold a joint meeting involving officials of the Irrigation Department, Transco, Genco and Discoms immediately.

To ensure speedy land acquisition, the Chief Minister suggested joint meeting of Revenue, Irrigation and other related wings and preparation of an action plan based on the decisions taken at the meeting. The CM asked the engineers and IAS officers to conduct field visits regularly to complete the project work quickly.

The engineers in the Irrigation wing played an important role during the Telangana movement and urged them to discharge their duties with a commitment to fullfill the aspirations of 4 crore people of the State, recalled the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister handed over the appointment orders to 687 newly recruited AEEs at Jala Soudha. Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Special Chief Secretary to Finance Ramakrishna Rao, Irrigation Department Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja, Secretary Prashant Patil and ENC Anil Kumar participated in this meeting.
