Hyderabad: BRS party working president and former minister Kalvakuntla Tarakarama Rao on Tuesday alleged that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy focused on massive bribery programmes after coming to power. He released a press note on Amrut tenders on Tuesday.

In his statement, he alleged that a conspiracy was hatched in the name of the tenders for infrastructure projects. “Within a month or two of coming to power, CM Revanth had called for tenders for various works in the Municipal department, whose charge he is holding. Tenders worth around Rs 9,000 crore have been called for sewerage works for drinking water projects in 26 municipal towns,” he said.

KTR said the tendering process was completed on February 6 this year and added that in these tenders, the companies belonging to CM Revanth Reddy were introduced and the works were handed over. “Because of this reason, the government has not put up the information about the whole affair on any website. So far, not a single press release has been released from the government after the tendering process for the project worth thousands of crores of rupees has been completed. In which areas were the works called? Where companies got the tenders. The government has not made any information like the value of the tender works available to the public domain. However, the Indian Hume Pipe Company, which won the tenders, is a stock listed company. They had to give information about the tenders they had received to SEBI. This led to the tender scam coming to light.

According to the information provided by the company, the company has bagged tenders worth Rs 1137 crore," he said. KTR said it had been informed to the stock exchange that 80 per cent of the work in these tenders would be awarded in the form of joint ventures to two other companies. “One of the two companies is Sudini Srujan Reddy, brother-in-law of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Shodha Construction Pvt Ltd is a company that has a stake in this joint venture. The company did not directly participate in the tenders as it did not have any qualifications.

The Chief Minister's brother-in-law handed over 80 per cent of the work to benami companies by putting pressure on the Indian Hume Pipe company and floating tenders.

This company called Shodha Construction does not even have the financial capacity. The company's revenue is only Rs 71 crore per annum. How can this company, which has a profit of only Rs 2 crore, complete a project worth so many hundred crores of rupees? It is not right for this company, which does not participate directly in the tenders due to lack of qualifications decided by the government, to carry out the same works in a haphazard manner," he said.

He made it clear that it was also an offence under the Office of Profit to obstruct one's position in order to provide undue financial benefit to their family members. He warned CM Revanth Reddy that senior AICC leader Sonia Gandhi (National Advisory Committee), Maharashtra former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan (Adarsh Housing Society scam) and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa (handing over illegal mining to their family members) had lost their posts on similar charges. With the same issues, we will definitely take up the affairs of the Chief Minister and the Amrut tender scam with the Central Vigilance Commission. However, our allegation is that in the case of these Amrut tenders worth about Rs 9,000 crore, Revanth Reddy's benami companies have taken sub-contracts with many companies for the family members of the companies. This is one example of hundreds of crores of corruption that has taken place in this deal. If the government is sincere, it should reveal all the details of these tenders and cancel the tenders," he said.
