AP Cabinet Approves new Liquor Policy, Allows Private Shops for Liquor Sale

Hyderabad: The AP Cabinet meeting was held in Amaravati on Wednesday. The Cabinet discussed several key issues in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The Cabinet approved a proposal for allowing private liquor shops. The Cabinet has decided to make available quality liquor below Rs 100 as promised in the elections.

The Cabinet has given the green signal to make quality liquor available at Rs 99.The revival of the volunteer system also came up for discussion in the cabinet. Officials informed the Cabinet that the tenure of the volunteers had expired in August last year. Several ministers said that former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had forced the volunteers to resign even after the expiry of the term.

On the occasion, the ministers said Jagan ruled the State in a fraudulent manner. Chief Minister Chandrababu suggested officials to take more information on the revival of the volunteers. The cabinet also discussed the irregularities committed by the previous government in the purchase of Sakshi daily. Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy told the Cabinet that Rs 205 crore has been spent for buying the Sakshi daily within two years.

The Chief Minister said he would order an inquiry into the payments made to the Sakshi daily in violation of the rules. Several ministers said an inquiry should also be conducted into the rules under which the funds were allocated for the purchase of Sakshi daily.

Cabinet gave its green signal for the new liquor policy. The Cabinet also approved a proposal for allowing private liquor shops. The Cabinet has decided to make available quality liquor below Rs 100 as promised in the elections. The cabinet has given the green signal to make quality liquor available at Rs 99. The Cabinet has approved the flood relief package announced by CM Chandrababu Naidu.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has kept the promise made to the BCs in the elections. A resolution was passed in the cabinet meeting to provide 33 per cent reservation to BCs in the legislative bodies. The cabinet also recommended to the Centre on reservations for BCs. Minister Savita thanked Chandrababu for the reservations resolution for the BCs.
