Vijayawada: In a reversal of 2019 results, the ruling YSRCP Government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been completely decimated under a silent wave which led to a comfortable lead in over 155 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

TDP storming back to power after a gap of five years meting out a big blow to YSRCP led to breaking out into frenzied dance and jubilation by the supporters in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Kurnool and other places across the State. At several places crackers were burst. A few violent incidents were also reported from faction-ridden Alagadda and Nandyal, a few TDP supporters painting a ward sachivalayam yellow and some storming into at palatial bungalows built at Rushikonda beach in Visakhapatnam for the proposed housing of Chief Minister's Office. They also hoisted a party flag atop one of the bungalows.

The mandate was so decisive that the verdict came almost on the same lines all across 30 districts including the Rayalaseema, considered a strong bastion of the YSRCP. TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu, who will take oath as the Chief Minister for second time post-bifurcation, is scheduled to take oath at Amaravati on June 9 at 11.29 am, called Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda and others to congratulate them for getting clear mandate to govern at the national level for third time. Modi also extended his best wishes to Naidu. Sources said Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several senior leaders from BJP will attend the ceremony.

Incidentally, Jana Sena Party has emerged as the second largest party after TDP, the voting trends which started trickling down from 8.30 am, said. According to trends, TDP will end up with 16 MPs, YCP 4, BJP 3 and JSP two in its kitty. Interestingly, the strike rate of JSP is very impressive as it is set to win 19 of the 21 Assembly seats it contested and all the two Lok Sabha seats from where it fielded candidates.

Among others, Naidu from Kuppam, Pawan Kalyan from Pithapuram and Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhary from Rajahmundry rural segment and Daggubati Purandeswari from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency have won with a record margin. Most of the Ministers and key figures of YSRCP were forced to bite the dust barring Jagan Mohan Reddy, Avinash Reddy and Pedireddy Ramachandra Reddy.
