Visakhapatnam: Union Minister for Steel HD Kumaraswamy and Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma on Wednesday discussed various issues pertaining to the Steel Ministry and the future of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
This was the first meeting by the Union Ministers with the officials of the ministry to discuss on how to improve per capita steel consumption, raw material problems faced by RINL and other major steel manufacturers. It was not immediately known whether the demand for merger of RINL with SAIL as a long term solution besides granting working capital grant to the fund-starved steel plant figured during the discussion. RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Atul Bhatt was present.
