Former Australia cricketer Geoff Lawson has indicated that Virat Kohli is likely to face mixed reactions from Australian fans during the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts in Perth on November 22.

Kohli, who has been a focal point of attention since his debut tour in 2011-12, might receive both criticism and applause.

On the other hand, Lawson believes Jasprit Bumrah will enjoy a warmer reception from the crowd.

Bumrah, who will be fielding at fine leg, is expected to have more opportunities to interact with fans and avoid the intense scrutiny Kohli might face.

Lawson acknowledges that despite the potential for Kohli to encounter tough moments with the Australian fans, they hold a deep respect for his cricketing prowess.

Kohli has a notable record in Australia, with 1,352 runs in 13 innings at an average of 54.08, including six centuries.

Additionally, Lawson points out that Australian captain Pat Cummins is highly competitive and eager to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which India has held for the past decade.

Cummins and the Australian team, as the reigning World Test Champions, are motivated to demonstrate their strength and secure a victory over India.
